THEY TOLD ME THAT IF GEORGE W. BUSH WERE RE-ELECTED, political activists who circulated petitions critical of government policy would be tossed in jail. And they were right!
I learned about this link a few days ago, but my keyword-deficient search at the InstaPundit site turned up only a couple earlier mentions of the case. It seems Reynolds is riffing. Here’s what he said November 21, 2007:
THEY TOLD ME THAT IF GEORGE W. BUSH WERE REELECTED, people would be imprisoned for political activism. And they were right! “Edmondson wants three taxpayers rights activists incarcerated for the dastardly crime of encouraging Oklahomans to sign a petition for a referendum on a proposed Taxpayers Bill of Rights.”
And here’s what he said October 21, 2007, a couple weeks after Edmondson’s original indictment of the Oklahoma Three:
MORE CRUSHING OF DISSENT, this time in Oklahoma.
They told me that if George W. Bush were re-elected, people would be thrown in jail for daring to challenge the powers that be. And they were right!
