Oklahoma judges can’t even protect basic privacy, let alone First Amendment rights
March 24th, 2008 by KathleenThe case of the Target photographer leaves one to wonder what Oklahoma is putting in its judges’ water, and we were pleased today to see that the Oklahoma Political News Service picked up on the story. This story may be even more dismaying than the fact that Oklahoma authorities want to put Paul Jacob and his two “co-conspirators” in jail for 10 years.
The case involves a man who took pictures up the skirt of a 16-year-old girl while she was shopping at a Target store. Believe it or not, an Oklahoma judge ruled that such an action was perfectly OK, since the girl had no right to an expectation of privacy in a public place like Target. Paul Jacob highlighted the case in one his Common Sense features this week, and the Oklahoma Political News Service has posted Paul’s article on its site.
