Dismissal of charges brings much news coverage
January 23rd, 2009 by KathleenNumerous good articles have come out across the country since yesterday’s dismissal of all charges against the Oklahoma 3 by Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson.
Doug Bandow writes in the American Spectator:
This is good news for the movement, since Jacob has fought for term limits, budget and tax limitations, and educational choice in the past and has much more work to do. But Edmondson’s final capitulation is particularly welcome for Jacob and his family, who have been suffering in the shadow of an unjust felony indictment.
The next step is for the people of Oklahoma to give Edmondson an appropriate “reward” for his services.
At The Blockbuster Democracy Blog, Joe Mathews writes:
The real question is why Edmondson persisted for so long—it’s been more than a year—in pursuing the charges. Conservatives saw political bias. (Edmondson’s a Democrat). Liberals unwisely exulted over the prosecution, despite the threat to free speech it represented. If they have any honor, the New York Times and the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center owe Jacob and his fellow defendants an apology.
Other noteworthy coverage includes Reason magazine, The Oklahoman, the Tulsa World, and the Journal Record.
