OETA goes after Citizens in Charge web site, again!

January 23rd, 2009 by Kathleen

Back in November, on the day of Paul’s preliminary hearing, Paul released a statement to the media via email. Soon afterwards, a spam complaint from OETA (the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority) to Hostica caused the company to shut down the Citizens in Charge website. Well, they did it again!

When Paul’s statement in response to yesterday’s dismissal of charges was released via email, the OETA put in a new complaint, resulting in the CIC web site being shut down again. I guess we need to drop them off the media list.

As we noted the last time they did this:

Could this public television “authority” just possibly have a political axe to grind? Seems that not only does OETA not wish to hear from all sides on issues, but it actually uses the sending of a press release (to a media outlet, after all) as an excuse to attempt to shut down a web site, and thus silence the free speech of others.

If you’re wondering why Oklahoma Public Television doesn’t like free speech, call them up and ask them at 1.800.879.6382.
