Oklahoman gets behind Brogdon’s I&R reform bills

January 27th, 2009 by Kathleen

There was a super editorial in yesterday’s The Oklahoman, giving Randy Brogdon’s I&R-reform bills a nice push. (The piece also mentions Edmondson dropping the prosecution of the OK-3.)

Paul reminds us that we must keep in mind that we haven’t won a complete victory in Oklahoma until the initiative process is opened up.

What happens with Sen. Brogdon’s bill is the most important outcome of the OK-3’s entire ordeal. We’ve won a case that matters a whole lot to us and thankfully to many others, but Oklahoma is still in desperate need of reform. This editorial suggests that reform is on the way, that the people are working to open up the initiative—Oklahoma’s best path for citizen control of government.

Paul added:

This is a super important editorial, because it signals that the state’s largest media outlet is solidly behind Brogdon’s bills. There is real momentum in this battle. Our side has seen such momentum before, but rarely if ever this level of media support.

Sounds like this is the time to keep the pressure on for real reform in Oklahoma.
